Survey Typos
« on: March 02, 2016, 09:26:07 am »
Maybe it is just me, but I always get suspicious or cautious when I encounter a survey with a typo.  I took a survey earlier today of FC about scented products and the survey said something like: "On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being of little importance and 5 being of extreme importance how would you rate the following items..."  Now the grid where I answered the questions was correctly labeled 1-5 and showed me which end was low vs. high importance, so it ultimately didn't hinder my answers, but you would think that the company that assembles the survey would proof read them, wouldn't you?

I also CANNOT STAND IT when they give multiple choices and tell you to select as many as apply, but the answer template has radio buttons that only allow ONE response to be checked rather than checkboxes allowing for multiple selections.  I often wonder how many surveys I've been screened out of for not picking the right response there only because I could not pick all that applied to me and had to narrow my choices down to one item.

C'mon folks! Proofread and spot check your surveys before publishing them!  (Not directed to Fusion Cash, but to the initial survey sources).

I guess finding typos is one of my pet peeves, also, but not only in surveys, - in everything else as well.  It takes very little effort to go back over a written piece to find errors. I guess people are in too much of a hurry in this day and age.  Or they just don't care.  Then there's auto correct.  I'm always finding a word completely changed from what I intended.

I come across that on occasion and it drives me nuts. I am a stickler when it comes to grammar and spelling.

Boy, I have to agree with you on all points.  You would think they would hire people with good grammatical and writing skills to begin with and then proofread the material they are sending over the internet.  Technical matters need to be checked also to make sure everything is working correctly.  I feel it is a bad representation of the company.

it may be impractical to proofread everything they create, and spell check only tells you if something is spelled correctly, not if it is used correctly... I just ignore little errors and do the surveys, especially if I've already invested time in it

I'm more annoyed by the questions where it says to select multiple and you can only pick one or there is no none of the above option available.

Oh it's a big pet peeve. One of the frequent ones I've encountered are questions that do not provide a "None of the above" or "N/A" choice, when that is a legitimate answer to the question! For example, "What are the ages of your children?" after I already answered the previous question with "no children".

Yes, I know what you mean.  I see that kind of thing from time to time and it is annoying.

Isn't it ironic that these survey companies keep reminding the panelists on the importance of being truthful and accurate when completing the questionnaire.

It seems as though the surveys that have these typos are the ones that don't allow the survey taker to rate the survey at the end of the questionnaire.  I love giving positive feedback and I usually do but if there were errors and I was given the chance to point them out, I would do so; in a kind way, of course.  :)

Yes!!! Thank you! I always try to remember or even scribble down when I find a glitch or an answer choice needs clarified, but less and less surveys give us the option to add any sort of comments at the end.

I completely agree! Typos drive me crazy too. But I do get even more agitated by the select all that apply and you are only allowed one.
