I think it would really depend on what the issue is? If it's too serious, you need to see a doctor!

I have alot of co-workers in the past & present, go to the doctor only to be told "it's a virus that's going around, nothing they can do, go home & get rest and stay hydrated" -OR- they are given an antibiotic (one girl I know was just given 3!).

I avoid doctors (yes, I have full medical insurance).  I prefer trying home remedies first.  For some things, I use OTC medicines--- Aleve Cold & Sinus tablets, Alka Seltzer Cold & Flu are two I always keep on hand.  I also LOVE Vick's vapor rub!  (Despite the negativity some have for the product, I doubt it does anyone any more harm than alot of other unhealthy habits one may have...... ).

I can't afford going to the doctor so I have to take over the counter medicine, it all comes out to be the same price anyway, if not more expensive for prescriptions.
