this whole year has been so boring for me...but now we have coming up a week long trip to mi, my daughter's 5th bday, halloween, thanksgiving, xmas....ahhh too much stuff!!!

I think it is a good idea.  Because some people do need to use layaway if they have a store that will do it.  Walmart does not do it anymore so.......

We will probably start our Christmas shopping in September.  This year is the year of giftcards...

It's not really too early to let us know that Christmas is just around the corner.  I mean, some people shop for Christmas gifts all year long.  They pick up things here and there as they see them on sale.  The decorations being sold in the store is just a way of reminding everyone not to wait until the last minute (which unfortunately most of us will still do).  I try to get things as I see them on sale.

it's good for one thing but bad for the other...what happens if you find out that there is a better gift than the previous purchased one, do you buy it or stick with it?

Just try to keep your receipts and you can return or exchange the items you bought.  Me personally, I would just stick with it (Your first instinct is usually the correct one).  Second guessing yourself is going to make the situation worse.  Or if you find a better gift, find someone else to give the gift to that you already purchased.

I hope I'll be able to get finished shopping before December, but if not then hopefully I will not have much left to buy.

I am a last-minute shopper. So yes, August is WAY too early to be shoving Xmas items in my face.
