I sewed a lot when my kids were young.  I sewed many dresses for the girls when they were infant throught toddler age.

One Easter, I sewed matching/coordinating dresses for all 6 of us.....Ties for my husband and son; dresses for the 3 girls and myself.

I still have those dresses!

I also used to but why sew when your can get final clearance clothes for 2 -10 dollars.  You can;t sew anything for that price.

I took a sewing class in school many years ago and at that time made a number of items.  But now I don't seem to have as much of an interest in sewing. It seems as though I'm always busy doing other things.  :rose:

I can sew but I only
Do minor things- buttons or hems. I used to love it. I just don't have time anymore!

I do own a sewing machine and use it to sew up holes that appear in clothing and seams that come undone, that sort of thing. I do not really know enough about sewing to make anything like a dress or a shirt, though.

The only sewing I do nowadays is repairing or altering. Of course, I'll still sew on a button when needed.

I actually cut out material to make a shirt for my youngest and it lay around for over a year until I finally got rid of it. I was totally not inspired to make the shirt. I believe fear was the biggest factor there.  :-\

When I did sew long ago, I enjoyed it. That is, I enjoyed it until I made a mistake that I had to redo. Then I would go ballistic. Duh! Not worth raising your blood pressure over.  >:(

Plus when I figured out that it cost less to buy something ready made, I felt it was pointless to sew your own clothes; unless you could make your own pattern for designing and sewing something that was really cool and different. I think that would be awesome.  :star:

I have a girlfriend and a cousin that can sew any-dern-thing at all.

I still think it's a great skill to have and learn.  :present: Imagine, they used to teach us to sew in school. It was girls only. :female: Wasn't that sexist of them?  :confused1: Just kidding.

I know how to sew buttons or fix a hem and things like that, but I don't sew otherwise. Back in 7th grade, I did take a class and at the end of it, I made an apron. My mother used to make our clothes when we were younger and I used to go with her to the fabric store to pick out what pattern I wanted and what material I liked. That was fun. I would like to pick up sewing again.
