Upright or Recumbent Exercise Bikes
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:18:34 pm »
I'm currently shopping for a good exercise bike and I'm not sure if I want to invest in an upright or recumbent bike.

I know I want a good cardio workout.

Do you own and use an exercise bike?  If so, what do you use?  How much do you like it?

Thanks.
Have a great day!

If you want a good workout I'd get an upright bike. I have one and my heart can really get going. I think recumbent bikes are good if you have joint pain. Not that you can't get a workout on them but they're a little easier. If you really want to pedal an upright bike would be good for that.

Was looking at Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike with Pulse, their recumbent bike, and the Sunny indoor bike last week... Bought the Exerpeutic Upright bike because it provides a better workout than the recumbent... The recumbent provides better back support but the relaxed position could affect your workout. I heard being relax  (such as watching tv or reading a magazine) could affect your concentration of the workout (therefore weaker workout).

Haven't tried it yet since I am missing a few parts (they need to package the washers and nuts better) so I need to wait a few days until they process my parts request.

I'd go for the upright.  If I'm at the gym and using it for a cool down I would use the recumbent one, but at home I have an upright and I do interval training while I'm watching TV (do hard sprints when it's a commercial break.)

We have a recumbent exercise bike.  It has been very good for my husband.  He is disabled and was going to the therapy unit just to exercise on one of these bikes.  We bought one when it got too expensive for him to go often.
Have a wonderful day!
