Willard and Ben
« on: May 11, 2016, 10:01:08 am »
I'm sure some of you have watched or heard of these two movies. Do you know of anyone who actually has made a friend of a mouse or rat (not a pet) that appeared in their place of residence?  :o

And if you do know of someone who has done that or is doing that right now, what are your thoughts about that rather unusual situation?

I saw both "Willard" and "Ben" in the theater when I was a kid.  I liked both films and am still moved by the poignant theme song, "Ben", sung so beautifully by a young Michael Jackson.  That said, I have never made friends with a rat or mouse and never will.  They give me the creeps!

My brother made friends with a squirrel.  Does that count?

I had an elderly cat who was unable to catch mice anymore, so I took her place. I caught one mouse trying to climb into the house by a window. He was cute. Not your normal grey thing, but he was brown with "Mickey Mouse" ears. I caught him by the tail and put him in a canning jar and drove 5 miles away to the woods and let him go. Just didn't have the heart to hurt him.

My son used to have a boa constrictor. You know what they eat...well, he was moving and brought the aquarium with snake to my house to babysit while he moved and "settled in." I was at work. Can you imagine my surprise when I came home? This thing was to be here only a day or two but it turned into 2 months and I was very unhappy. I had to feed the snake and refused because they were living mice. So the next day my son took the snake out of here. Thank heavens!
