I've already faced that.. My son was high on drugs, and the only way to get him help, was to have him arrested. He is clean now, and has been married for 15 years now, with two boys.

You are a great parent...good job. There are too many enablers out there. If someone is allowed to keep effing up their life with no consequences, why would they stop? You did him a favor and possibly saved his life.

If my daughter was going to go to jail for something stupid, then ya I would lie for her. But if she truly did something wrong, or was hooked on drugs, then she would deserve the punishment.

Agreed on the situation  - if they killed someone or did something else majorly illegal than no I wouldn't lie.  I would hate to see my child in jail, but if its safer than letting them free on the streets, then jail time is needed
