« on: June 01, 2015, 05:57:11 pm »
you make a doctors appointment and you get there 30 minutes early and you sit there for 2 and 1/2 hours after your appointment time i don't mind waiting for 15-30 minutes but 2 and 1/2 hours after the doctor comes in and say so sorry you had to wait and i asked him what would happen if i was late for my appointment so he looked at me and said they would have cancelled the appointment and they would charge me for the visit so then i looked at him and said ok then how you pay me for the appointment since i have been sitting here for 2 1/2 hours after my appointment time he looked at me and say yeah right i was so flipping mad by the time i left and i will say this i will not go back to him again  am i wrong or right for feeling this way

Yeah its total BS to even make an appointment to see a doctor, had to wait the same amount of hours you did and I made an appointment as well I should of just walked in like some of the people there and they still got to see the doctor before me.

I'd be upset too! It's not right to let patients wait that long. They should have told you they were running behind or something. And they charge you for THEM cancelling the appointment because you are late? OMG! Good thing that wasn't me. I would report them to the certification board or whatever is out there. Go on healthgrades.com and put his name in and you can grade him/her. Give them a bad review. F that crap is right! So sorry you had to deal with a twit doctor!

What I don't understand is why they even bother with appointments. They never stick to them. They always do the first come first serve thing. I hate waiting at the doctors office. It is quite annoying. I have actually left doctors offices because they took too much time.

That really gets me mad too.  I understand they are doctors and their time is valuable, but our time is valuable too.  Like you said Aggie, 15 or 20 minutes are acceptable (and really should they be?)but 2 1/2 hours!  No way

I would of been upset too, I don't mind waiting because being a woman and having to see the OBGYN I've had appointments where one of his patients was about to deliver so I was already in the room and had to reschedule, but if it was my primary doctor and I had to wait yes I would of been furious!

My Doctor is pretty good about keeping on track with appointments. I think any kind of specialist makes you wait longer.

That is one of the reasons that I hate to go to a doctor's office.  It's like your time isn't valuable.  I usually have to miss work to go to the doctor so it ends up costing a lot more than the expensive office visit charge.
Have a wonderful day!

Our clinic has signs posted all over that if you are waiting longer than 30 min. after your appt. time, to see the receptionist and they will reschedule if necessary (at no cost). I think that is probably the best way to handle it... It's understandable if a doctor gets behind, esp. if they have to respond to an emergency issue (like missplaymate618's OBGYN) so just let the patient reschedule so that they aren't wasting their time waiting for hours to be seen.

Doctors do their best to be organized.  Offices just assume that booking many people works best.  They are assuming that some patients will not keep their appointments.

Idk.  That makes me so mad.  And then they want to know why my BP is high.  If your appointment is at 1:00 and 3 walk ins go in at the same time you do for the same doctor then THEY will see the doctor first.  That is NOT fair.  But what can you do???  And the more we move to socialized medicine the worse things like that will get.

I think you are right for one thing sounds like he was being a rude jerk who wanted to let you know he was the only one with rights.  I was a few minutes (5) late for my appt the other day because I have mobility and breathing problems and I had to park way out.  When I got in the receptionist said oooooooh your appt was at 3pm and I said wow are they actually running on time today?  Usually I wait for 30 or more minutes.  She just said I'll let them know you are here like maybe he would see me and maybe he wouldn't.

You have my complete sympathy cause I've been there too.  Better to find a new doctor before you get high blood pressure just from this guys' office!!  Good luck and stay calm!!
