"She was rude, but to claim she can't be objective because of that is just asinine. This incident has absolutely nothing to do with her ability to do her job. "

True colors come out when under pressure.  I think she should be demoted to a desk job.  I mean everybody needs a job. But she clearly does not belong on tv as a reporter or anything else. She can't be objective. True colors!!  :rainbow:

She was rude, but to claim she can't be objective because of that is just asinine. This incident has absolutely nothing to do with her ability to do her job.

It does when her face is the representative of ESPN, a Disney company.  She is the on air talent, she is supposed to uphold the company brand at all times, that is all part of her job.   I would wager she has an ethics/moral clause in her contact.   If they wanted to let her go for being a poor representative for their company, they could easily let her go.  But she still has her job, so on with the show....

Which is another issue entirely. This doesn't have anything to with her ability to her job.

Could they have have let her go? Sure. My issue is with anyone claiming the she "needs" to be fired. It's laughable. By bringing up Disney just furthers my view that very few people know who she was before this or what her role is at ESPN. She is sideline reporter. Interviews athletes/coaches, with a predominantly male audience. This isn't your G-rated, family-friendly crowd.

I'm not sure any of this would have became news if she wasn't attractive. Typically the "needs to be fired" crowd comes out after some one says something racist or homophobic. Not the case here. More likely people have ran into someone like her in their personal lives, and just want to see someone punished.

I don't know too much about what happened, but I saw the video and she was out of line. She was personally attacking the clerk. I get being mad, but she crossed the line.

I quit watching ESPN years ago. I couldn't stand listening to those butt-kissing analysts.

Wondering what others think about the Britt McHenry rant on a tow trucker employee. The insults thrown at the female employee were personally offensive and Britt came across as "I'm better than anyone", insulting the woman's looks, weight, education, etc.   Watching it I felt it was extremely hurtful and arrogant.   Glad it was caught on video tape.  She has been suspended by ESPN for one week and many are calling for her to be fired.    Some are saying this tow truck company has a shady reputation and that Britt's car was towed illegally.   Wonder if people feel the punishment of one week's suspension is enough or should she be fired.
I have expressed my opinion on other sites regarding this and on her FB page...The towing company is known for stalking per say others have had similar experiences...what Brit did was not acceptable behavior...but I do not feel she should be fired...we all make mistakes and Brit learned a pretty embarrassing lesson...hopefully bringing her down a notch or two...and the towing companies trucks have also been know to park illegally

I think the worst part of that whole situation is ESPN barely gave her a slap on the wrist. They suspended her for a week! They essentially just gave her some freebie time off.

ESPEN isn't exactly known for hiring female sports correspondents for their reporting skills and promising careers, though so I guess we can't be totally surprised.

And yes-- there are plenty of GREAT female sports journalists out there who get little love because the people who run the show would rather have pretty blondes with ugly attitudes like McHenry.

A week suspension and public ridicule. Barely a slap on the wrist??? Get real. She wasn't even at work. ESPN has suspended other employees for a week for racist/sexist/homophobic comments made while on air. There's really no rational reason why she should be suspended longer than those employees.

I didn't even know who she was but I did see the video. I can't say whether she should have been fired or not as it's not my place to say. I like what one person said about having her work at a tow yard. Regardless, I hope she's learned from this and accepted responsibility for her behavior.
