I find that whenever I decide to wear heels to an event, not only do I make my feet feel extremely uncomfortable, I always feel way overdressed because nobody else wears heels to anything any more. I wore a nice subdued dress and heels to a funeral recently and met other people there dressed in jeans which made me feel way out of place.

I feel lucky when I am comfortable walking around in tennis shoes! I would love to be able to wear heels.  Flat shoes do nothing for dresses, but at this point I am happy that I still have a pair or two of flats that I can endure.  I have a feeling some of the younger generation might be setting themselves up for foot trouble in the future.

The last time I wore any kind of heal was for our youngest daughters' wedding and that was 4 years ago.  I really quit wearing heals long before that so I had to go buy some.  I might wear a very short stack heal once in a while but mostly I just wear flats to Church and tennis shoes most other places.

Since my car wrecks in 1986, I never wear high heels. Now that I am 72 I do not need to take a chance of falling and breaking a hip. Besides I do not feel the need to impress anyone, not even my husband. It is low shoes for me. I rarely even wear flats.  But I do wear sandels to church.

due to a balance issue I have never been able to wear heels. More importantly I have never been a slave to fashion so Ieven if I could wear heels I probably wouldn't plus I am one that comfort is much more important than the shoes on my feet :rainbow: :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

I wish I could wear heels, but unfortunately, I have arthritis in both knees and they hurt constantly.  Wearing heels would only make them feel worse.

I agree with CharmedPhoenix that age really doesn't have much to do with it.  I'm 41 and I haven't worn heels since I was in high school.  I'm 5'2" so when I was much, much younger, heels were pretty much a necessity.  Once I got out of school, my life got pretty hectic and I started spending more time in tennis shoes or work shoes.  Occasionally I would wear flats.  Now twenty-some years later, I'm really limited as to what shoes I can wear.  I have lymphedema in both legs and the swelling makes it impossible for me to wear any kind of heels or boots.  Anything that goes above the ankle is a no-go for me.  There are some times when my feet swell so much that it's difficult, sometimes impossible, for me to even wear flats or tennis shoes.  I'd love to be able to wear a pair of heels or a gorgeous pair of boots but that just isn't in the cards for me.   :(

I wear heals on occasion, but most of the time I dress for comfort.
