What does it mean to be NICE?

Okay, yes.  I understand the definition of being nice so please don't ask me to "google" it.

This is something a little bit different.  We all have our own perception of what it means to be nice.  For years, when people told me that I'm so nice...I considered that a compliment.  Now I cringe when I hear that 4 letter word. 

It's okay for me to be kind, considerate and respectful; however now, the word "nice" carries a negative stigma for me.

If someone tells me I'm nice I feel that I'm a door mat that can be walked on.  I feel it means that I'm in a vulnerable position where I could be easily manipulated or taken advantage of.  Therefore, I've decided that being nice is a thing of the past.

Nice can be good or bad....u sound over 18 in which case nice isnt so good. why, because girls who call guys they like "nice" are usually kind of immature, they're still into the whole Cinderella story fairy tale crap....girls who are older or more mature are more realistic and usually alot less cheesy which is why "nice" guys are just friends.....i think u didnt include enough detail in ur post about ur relationship with her in order to really tell how she sees u.....u cant base her feelings purely on just one word because it sometimes has different meanings but if i had to guess id say it wasnt the "bad" nice that she hit u with. u seem foreign so i assume she is as well, sometimes foreigners use words in english they mean to say in the're language but doesnt mean the same in english...i think she meant nice as in a synonym for cute......... i know girls are complicated like that.

I understand what you're saying because sometimes I've been told "you're too nice" too and it just seems to sit the wrong way!!

Unfortunately, sometimes when you are nice, people will take advantage of you...to me, it means doing something for others without expecting or wanting anything in return...

It means treating people like you want to be treated.  That means approaching me with a great attitude, with a smile that is sincere and being empathetic to others who need an ear to talk to.

Being nice means simply this---Not being an a** towards other people. We're all human and have feelings. Treat people kind and loving and with resepct. Do unto others as you want them to do unto you.

to me to be nice is to be polite when it is needed. To be respectful when it is needed. I don't like to be too nice; people might take advantage of me.

I never considered it that way...I think of nice as someone who isn't mean...one who is thoughtful. If I used that term for you it would've been in a good way.....if someone says your toooo nice, well, that's another story.
