Def study. I had my permit back when I was 17 but I never drove so that went to waste. I'm 28 now and don't have my license yet. But am planning on going for my permit soon (hopefully). I just read what I didn't know and skipped the ones I already knew. Read the book like 3? months ago. Now I'm just waiting on money to go for the permit test so I can learn to finally drive.

Good luck!

Find a large empty parking lot, like a school or a church.  Then just practice.

If the OP is trying to pas the DRIVER'S TEST then a book is not going to help.  The actual driving test there is no help except practicing with a licensed driver while you have a permit.

Where I live they do not make you parallel park.  Which I think is stupid.  I would never do that.  I will park farther away and walk.

You know, when I first passed my test in the UK when I was 17, it was really when I bought my first car that I started to learn for real, in real-life driving situations. I would go out on quiet country roads and edge towards the city when I felt a little more confident. If you haven't passed yet, I would suggest the best practice, is to practice! Take someone with you who has patience and encouraging words and just.. drive. It was probably a whole year before I felt I could drive with confidence, without thinking about it too much. I have now been driving for 30 years. I have never caused an accident and I have never been pulled over by the police. For the record, you might like to know that I didn't pass my test the first time, in fact I failed twice, the point is, I never gave up.

Study the book, be cautious and don't drive too fast, keep your hands at ten and two and always use your turn signals.
Great advice! Yes get a book from your local DMV and study it also have someone ask you the questions so you see just how well you would do. Just know the real test questions are worded differently but will have a similar meaning.

My daughter just got hers today! Are you talking written or the driving part? She studied and studied and took practice tests on the internet and passed. Then, her parents took her out driving ALL the time! She passed easily today! Good luck!

Thank you to all that gave me feed back. I am real nervous and on my second day was a little better. I will get it!

If nerves are getting in your way you can get Rescue Remedy at a whole foods, natural grocer or herb store.  A couple drops will take the edge off your nerves.  It's amazing how well it works.  It doesn't replace studying or practice, but it'll help you apply what you've learned.  Good luck.

Practice with online tests and that should help a lot.

get the book, implement the  rules when driving, even book a lesson or two and have the instructor tell you what you have to improve on.
