Goal setting
« on: September 22, 2014, 09:29:03 am »
Trying something new to me at least. Although I've read a lot about it,I've never gotten around to actually doing it.
Setting goals! Sounds fairly simple, but...I've written them down. Hopefully I'll remember to read them daily.
Do you set goals? If so, how is it working for you?

 goals is good topic:
yes i set my goals for the week and try very hard to finish what i wanted to do i use a tool box method.
i write down on paper :) and fold it up and put it in box and every day i pick one of the goal i wrote down. and what ever i picked that the goal i need to complete for that day. and for some reason i did not do it the paper goes back into i call my tool box and if i did reach that goal i throw it out and i just reach this every day and do this it helps me stay on track try it it may work. :)

When I was working, setting goals was how I got through my day. I would always write a list of my most important goals and then tail off with the less important or less urgent tasks. I would make myself do the projects I least wanted to complete FIRST and then spent the rest of my doing the more enjoyable tasks - that was my reward! At home, I do a similar thing. If I have calls to make which I'm not looking forward to, I do those first. Then I move onto the more enjoyable tasks such as preparing dinner.

I will sometimes set a small goal for myself for a day, or set one and give myself a month to accomplish it.

I've been setting goals for quite some time.  Sometimes I'll make a daily list/goals sheet if there are things I need to focus on to get done to keep me from getting distracted.  I more often write up goals for weekend chores or a week long "to do" list.

At the end of each year I'll write up an annual goal list vs a New Year's resolution.  I find the goal list to be better as you have more flexibility in achieving the goal, as opposed to "failing" your resolution.

A trick I've learned is to try to always include at least one very simple goal on the list - one you are guaranteed to complete.  Then you have that encouragement that you have at least one item scratched off the list.

I have been setting goals since I was fifteen years old and am now fifty one. I generally achieve ninety five to ninety seven percent of my goals. Every December I take a day to review my goals and make new goals for the upcoming year. I follow a somewhat corporate approach. I take what I have accomplished and aim for goals that exceed the previous year's accomplishments by a ten percent margin. I also analyze things that went wrong and try to minimize them by at least ten percent.  Kind of the way I run my businesses...increase assets/income by ten percent and decrease expenses/liabilities by ten percent.  I am constantly looking for ways to improve upon all that I have going on at present.

I want to adopt the goal of walking 10,000 steps per day.  I have a friend who has done well since he started doing that.  He's been doing that for over a year, now.

I understand that setting goals and being disciplined enough to accomplish them is a left brain activity.  My tendency is to live in the right side of my brain so it would be good, for me, to balance myself out by setting and working toward more goals.

Have a great day!

Setting goals is a very important step in getting organized in your life. Most important ones first...then the rest!
