Oh my goodness, that does sound shocking. My son got pneumonia when he was about four years old after a bout of flu which he couldn't get rid of. I took him to the emergency room and they put him on the nebulizer. He is now 8 years old and I have to keep a special eye on him because whenever he gets a chesty cough, he does result in a trip to the emergency room to have another treatment on the nebulizer. Thank goodness, since my last visit, the doctor allowed us to get an in-home nebulizer whenever I feel his breathing is starting to deteriorate.

Sounds like my son too! He will also be 8 yrs old and since the age of 12 months, he was in and out of the hospital with high fevers, bronchitis, pneumonia & other infections. Finally found out he had Reactive Open Airway Disease. Sounds worse than what it is. He basically has to be on the nebulizer whenever he gets his chesty wheezing cough due to pollen, dust, pet dander and just seasonal changes. Keep an eye on him because it can turn into asthma. Good luck and hope Kelly is doing ok!!
