Have you heard of the grapple?

Several months ago my oldest daughter decided she wanted to taste every apple that the local stores produce sections carried. One trip at wal-mart introduced us to the grapple.  They were sold in a 4 pk.  The idea was that they had a candy grape like flavor.  The problem was that the flavoring was just sprayed onto the skin of the apple.  I don't know bout all of you but I generally wash my produce before eating it.  Particularly apples.  So I washed most of the flavor down the drain.  We gave it two thumbs down.  Anybody else here of these?

while I have not heard of the "grapple", to me that is the most ridiculous thing ever.  Who would want their produce "sprayed" with anything???  Guess Walmart made a boo boo that time.

ive never heard such a thing, but i wash all my stuff before i eat it too and sounds like they arent giving the right information about apples, not what u paid for and that i dont like .

If memory serves me right; I remember seeing grapples at a local supermarket and the package stated that it was a cross between a grape and an apple. I saw the price, $2.50 for three small grapples, but I bought them anyway just to find out their taste. I tasted nothing more than an apple, so thumbs down with me, too.

Can't say I've ever heard of a grapple, but earlier this summer I did stumble upon a pineberry.

If grapples are just apples with something sprayed on them - I'm like the rest, I was produce so if it's just a grape flavored coating - that would be washed right off.

The pineberry, however, is a real fruit.  It's a new berry breed developed in Europe through cross-breeding strawberries.  The fruit is shaped like a small strawberry, and it has a white outer skin with red seeds.  The fruit tastes like a pineapple - which is why the plant/fruit was named "PINEberry".  I found that you can buy some starter plants on Amazon and the vendor had a pretty good rating.  I'm considering buying some next year to see if I can get any of those to grow just to try it out.

Never heard of it; and, totally not even interested in the very idea!  I love grapes!  But; I think a grape should taste like a grape and an apple like an apple!

Weird, & yet oddly, I want to eat one to try it out.

Not the  best fruit in the world  but it taste ok.
