The dumbing-down of this generation of Americans is so sad.  What is happening to our school system?

Instead of doing her any favors, they are giving her a disadvantage for the rest of her life.  Grades make a difference in what school she gets in (if), if she will be able to participate in any activities at school.  You may be popular but unable to participate in any activities  such as prom queen, sports, cheerleading, student government.  If you are not able to be involved in anything the popularity is going to start to disappear.    I don't know how, but someone is going to have to get through to the parents.  The leave no child behind still allows kids to be kept behind...and it sounds like she is working just for that.  Then she will want to drop out instead of continuing with her education.

I try not to judge other people...especially when bringing up their own children. We all need a license to drive, be a doctor, sell real estate/insurance, practice law, etc., etc. I do not understand why we can not just make it mandatory that people take classes and get certified to be parents before they have children.  There are so many people who truly want children that, for some reason or another, are unable.  These are people who should be blessed with the children of parent's who really don't care how they bring their children up. Laws make it so difficult for children to be adopted which makes it even harder to swallow bad parenting. My sister and brother in law fight incessantly and don't realize what a mess they have made out of my niece but it is not my place to intervene or judge, and I don't believe either action can save my niece.
