i love being self employed even though i work twice as hard as i used to when i worked at a regular job.  do i think that this is for everyone no way but it is a great way to be able to stay at home with my children and still get some money.

Definitely self employed. I have too many things to do to be tied to an office or any other workplace all day. The only reason to take an outside job is the consistent paycheck.

I would have loved to have been able to work from home when I was working.  I liked the interaction with some of my co-workers, but office politics is a bore.  My son-in-law has a job with a company located in the RDU Triangle near Raleigh.  He works part-time in the office and part-time at home.  I think that would be ideal.

I think I would prefer to work for someone else, so I won't have to worry about the things needed to run a business. Things such as hiring and firing employees, accounting, finding clients, etc.

I don't have an entrepreneurial mindset, but I would be willing to contract myself for jobs with different companies. However, for the most part I think I am more settled to follow assigned responsibilities with a dedicated employer.

I worked for SWBT/AT&T for 15 years and worked for our family business for 22 years and I'd have to say while I enjoyed the family business, I sure did enjoy the benefits of working for a large company; better insurance being just one of the reasons.  I really enjoyed the diversity of all the fellow employees I worked with and can't say that I was ever bored.

It depends on the type of work. If it is a good company, I would work for them!

I currently work for someone else but my ultimate goal is to be self employed.  I want to call my own shots and work when I want and make myself rich instead of someone else.

I think most people would prefer to be self employed so that they can set their own rules, hire their staff and word the hours they want.

I prefer self employed if I have the money to start my own business and become successful at it. However, if someone else offers me a lot more money to work for them plus benefits and great health insurance and retirement plan. I will leap and jump for the very first opportunity that i get!
