Help me with my Nook
« on: April 11, 2014, 12:41:36 pm »
Okay, I finally got my batter today and I got my nook charged up and now I have an empty nook and I don't know what to do.  Can somebody help me know how to get books on it.  Or games?  I went on barns and noble but from what I see in order to even get the free books I have to give them my credit card number.  If it is FREE why do you need my credit card info?  And I don't know how to get it to the device.  I also have heard you can get FREE games.  Can somebody please help me.  I do not have the book as somebody gave this to me that no longer used it.  She says she doesn't remember anything about it.

I don't remember putting in a credit card at Barnes & Noble, but I guess I did.  I only download the free books and they have never charged my account.  You have to set up an account with a e-mail address.  When you download the books they go to the nook and then you have to have a wifi so you can complete the download on the nook.

I have an account but I set it up a long time ago with BN I guess I need to go in and tell it where to send the books.  Do you download directly to your nook or do you go thru your computer?  I have wifi so I can do itthat way.  I just didnt see how.

I have a nook and I honestly can't remember if I used a credit card or not.  I do know I get tons of free books.  I don't know if there is a Barns & Nobel store close to you, but if there is go in and they will help you set it up for free.

I emailed B&N and he told me that I have to have a credit card on file in order to download books.
I don't understand that because if all I am going to do is get the free books why do they need my credit card.  I told him this and pointed out that Amazon doesn't require a credit card to get free books.  He basically disconnected me (was doing live chat) which I thought was rather rude.  I would have complained but couldn't find how to do it on the site.  He told he I HAVE TO GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD TO USE THE NOOK.  Shows how much he knows.  I just done a google search for epub books or pdf books that were free.  DL to my computer and then transferred to my Nook.

I did tell him it is very unfair to sell the Nook and not make it clear that even getting the free books requires you keep a credit card on file with them.  Like I told him - if I am only getting FREE books then you do not need my CC.

It's so easy that even my son who was 5 at the time knew how to download games/apps and they charged me for it...lol. Fun times! Check out YouTube for tutorials, that's the best way or just play around with it, you will soon enough figure it out. Good luck! :)
