Researching for a new car!

I have been trying to do some research on a new car for my family of 5 but, man they are so expensive!! Just the other day, My 14 year old says, it is so difficult for him to sit in the back with his other 2 siblings. We only have one car that fits all of us and now am looking for something with more leg room. Does anyone else feel the same way about the cost of these new autos. If you have any suggestions let me know even a used one sounds right about now. Tahoe, Suburban, Van, oioioi aye aye, butta bing butta bang!

There are tips that make car buying cheaper like buying during certain times of the month or year.  I have several online sites bookmarked that I check on from time to time like truecar.com, carsdirect.com. 

My union has a car buying service.  Check with your employer they might have some kind of discount.  I bought a car years ago using an employer discount with Nissan.

I just bought a Ford Focus about 2 weeks ago.
I love it, but I don't have any children right now.

My co-worker has a Ford Escape and she seems to really love it.
I don't know how pricey it was for her though.

I also vouch for waiting for certain times of the year.  There are clearance periods when a company tries to unload their prior year's stock.  I also use comparison sites.  Of course, I haven't bought a car recently (only looked).

I've been thinking about getting a new car for several years, but Molly is still running fine.
But I agree the prices have risen steadily over the years and will continue to do so in the future.

August +/-  is a good time to look since it's the end of the season for the current year model, but your selection will be limited to what's in stock.   The other thing that slows me done, is that I know my car insurance will rise significantly when I get a new car -- and it's been rising steadily already on my old car.

Like someone mention above, if price is an issue, consider buying a vehicle that is a year or two older.  Cars depreciate the most the first couple years, but if the vehicle has low mileage, you can get a very good deal.  The other benefit is since it's been out, you can look up if there are any known major issues with the model so you know if it's one to avoid.  Often if you get the vehicle at a dealership, it'll come with a warranty just like a new one, so you should be good there, plus save thousands of dollars.

I went online a couple of days ago and I was looking for a SUV.  The prices are really expensive.  Can't afford one now, but it doesn't hurt to look.

 I recommend something basic but still great like the Honda Civic or the Toyota Camry/Corolla.
