What's the Message about Prayer in the Sodom-&-Gomorrah Story?
« on: January 09, 2014, 10:20:46 am »
Reading the Bible-story of Sodom-&-Gomorrah (the cities that God destroyed on account of their absolute corruption), I read that the reason He paid any attention to them was because of their cry (for help?)

Am I the only one who's picking out a mixed message here: that if your cry is great before the LORD, you're next on the destruction-block?

Would a good way to put the message be, 'If you live in an evil world, you'd better NOT tell God about it!'?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's what a Pharisee might say today. You now have the chance to respond as my mentor Jesus-of-Joseph would, and I pray that you will!

You should probably read a more modern translation of the Bible if little things like this cause you to misunderstand scripture.

It was not a "cry" of help, but rebellion that reached the ears of God,prompting their punishment.

God allowed Abram to find righteous people and wouldn't destroy the cities. He didn't.

There is a possibility there was ignorance about some NOT knowing truth about God.Jesus mentions that in a scripture it would be more endurable for some of thos people in Sodom than actually those with him that KNEW he was Gods son.

Remember Jesus said there would be resurrection of righteous and unrighteos.

God is the judge seeing the heart of us all.Maybe Lots wife gets another chance even tho her heart showed she desired what those cities offered. We know Judas wont.No forgivness to those that sin against holy spirit and Judas did just that.
