I do have high blood pressure and I am very of my diet exercise etc checking my pressure made me crazy and more up tight so I stopped. The doctors check it and so far it has been great

I check  my blood pressure periodically.  Have my own Omron kit and it's easy to use.

My doctor says that I should measure it 3 times and average the readings.  I've also discovered that if I take 5 deeps breaths before I take the measurement, it will be lower (by about 10 pts).  I also take first on my left arm, then my right arm and the 3rd time on my left arm.  The readings do vary -- and generally lower if I've taken the 5 deep breaths.

Also important to have your arm supported at about heart level when you take the reading.

It is a good way to see if you are within the 120 range. That is about what a good reading is . 140 is really a little high. But there is nothing like a doctor to keep your health under control. I guess I have a good one, b ecause I don't go but once a year for the blood pressure.

I have high blood pressure but I don't ever check it at the store like you mentioned.  I just don't trust those machines to be accurate.
