GPS Update..
« on: November 03, 2013, 05:33:32 pm »
I just had my GPS updated by radio shack because it did not have all the roads and stuff on it. It is brand new. I was using it the other day. I put in the address and took off. After about an hour and half, it told me to turn left. I turned left and followed the road for almost 20 minutes and ended up on a dirt back road. IT WAS A DEAD END! This was about 5x this has GPS has took me down or up the wrong road! Has anyone else had this problem with their GPS? (if you have one ) :BangHead: :angry7: :dontknow:

I don't have one, but my son recently had an experience absolutely identical to yours. The road turned into a dirt road, and then eventually dead-ended. He was so scared.

wow so sorry it got you lost!  I never use a gps personally, I have the one built into my cell phone through sprint so I just use the one on there, never bothered to purchase one made specifically for directions.  hope it gets straightened out!

natashapy, I have one on my cell as well but been leary of using it because I dont know if that would have been any more acurate than my GPS..LOL .. Maybe I should try THAT out next time.. and YES, mawhite 63, It CAN be very scarey especially after dark and noone is around.. No houses or NOTHING....Sorry NOT doing THAT again!  radio shack has updated my GPS and I am taking a ride again using the same directions as before and see if it brings me to the right address. I will do this REAL early in morning JUST in case... LOL.   :dontknow: :o ;D

I have a Garmin that I have had for a few years now, I did spend the extra to get the lifetime updates for it. I haven't ever had a problem with it getting me lost, it sometimes takes me a longer way but I have always made it to my destination. I love having mine and can't imagine not having one now. I can go anywhere, as long as I have an address. LOL

No matter where I'm going, my "Judy Garmen" will tell me to go one direction and then immediately tells me to make a U-turn!  I'm directionally dysfunctional, anyway!
Have a wonderful day!

I have a Garmin and have the updates added through the computer.  I've had one for over 5 years and never had a problem.  Somehow "she" always gets us on the right road, there was one time I was worried as it was midnight, everything was closed, we were not on a highway, but in about 10 minutes of driving city streets there was our highway!
