is it ok to yell?

Do yelling make you feel good does it help to raise your voice? Is there something that says in your head maybe this person doesn't understand what it is I'm saying so that's why you yell thinking it helps get your point across?

I usually yell right back at them. They tend not to cross me when I start yelling. I guess I'm scary. lol  :BangHead:

sometimes u have 2 yell to get ur frustration out.....
if i am arguing with someone i get as loud as i can to get my point acrossed how mad i am.
some situations it aint okay to yell, like in the middle of a store or something like that.
Make it private!!!!

Honestly, I don't think yelling helps any situation, it only makes everyone more mad.  However that doesn't mean I don't yell, just means I wish I didn't...cause I know it can hurt the people I love.

I don't think I am all that scary so yelling would do me no good!

I don't like yelling from myself or others.....it gives me a severe headache.  When others yell I leave.

i've screamed into a pillow many a time...
i mean, its natural to want to yell. and yeah, i think its okay
if its really and truly necessary.

but i do the exact opposite when i get into it with someone
because i don't think yelling is very effective.
state your point calmly, and i will respect it and LISTEN more than if
you're yelling at me as if i'm a dog who's done something wrong.
(and vice versa)

if i'm in an argument or something, i get very dry but i keep
my cool. even if you're screaming inside, i think
the way you handle things can direct the entire situation
into understanding and negotiation MUCH MUCH faster.
also, you will feel like the bigger person.

i mean, the whole point is to get your point across --
in other terms, make someone understand you.
yelling rarely provokes such outcomes, ya know?

I defintely agree with cloudsoup. Yelling accomplishes intimidation, not understanding.

Of course, if you need to let off steam, yelling when you're alone/into a pillow is a really great way to do so! But yelling at someone else is more likely to lead to more frustration.

I think that yelliong is good to release tension, frustration, anger and what not.
But I do not feel that it is good to yell at a person even if you are trying to get your point across. If it should ever lead to that I think that both parties need to take a chill pill, relax and calm down.Half of the time people don't think rationally when they are yelling.Gather your thoughts and wait until the both of you are calm and ready to talk like adults. But never force the other person to be ready to talk just because you are.Wait for the right time for both of you.Give each other mutual respect.I know it is easier said than done but you have to work on it really hard. :angry7: :BangHead:

When you start yelling things come out that u probably would have not said normally. When I feel the need to yell I go outside and yell at nothing. Try it...

lol, i guess u yell when your mind feels as if it needs another way to express when the first few ways dont work, along with frustation. Some people are just nutty and like to scream.

nope. my mother yelled at her children and it wasn't effective, it just made us embarrassed for her because anyone who yells to get their frustrations out in public (or in front of anyone else) really just look stupid. my significant other and i don't yell at each other, and we won't yell at our son.
