CrowdFlower - Am I nuts or what?

I took the prescreen survey #5 AND #6 and FLUNKED. Huh? I answered the questions.
1.  How can I flunk a prescreen survey that wants to know more about me so they can give me more tasks aimed at my background?
2.  I tried to complete another task. The first search asked for a certain word in a certain sentence in a certain paragraph. I counted the paragraph, the sentences and the words, entered it and it told me it was wrong. I did it again and again, came up with the same answer and still wrong. I even tried a word to the left and right of the "correct" word but nope. Still "incorrect word."

This is why I rarely try the tasks lately. You can't go on to the next page if one answer is wrong and if you finally get through a task, you time out. Not worth it anymore.

For those who wonder why some of those tasks disappear quickly, FC is not the only place they have these tasks.

I have been having problem with the tasks for a while so I don't do them very often. I thought it was just me.

Same thing happened to me - makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you flunk out on questions
about yourself 
I'm like ..... really....now that is interesting! 
First I was mad  but then I just was like whatever  and who cares 

And it is also true about the questions to answer and then one answer is considered wrong even though you know it is right, yet no matter how you answer it - it is considered wrong....
I have opened support tickets to all that did me that way....but have heard nothing back (and doubt I will) about what is going on.

I have problems with some of the tasks also. Can't figure out why I keep getting the wrong answers even though I work really hard. Kind of frustrating.

Hahaha!!  I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone!  I thought the same thing, myself, but whatever!  There's other tasks!

Glad to see others having the same issues.  I tried some tasks that I thought I ought to be able to do and nope.  The best  was the one that said my answer was wrong and they used the same type thing in an example.

How old are you? And do you have any children at home?

If your retired and children are grone you just waste a lot of time on surveys that let you do half the survey then bump you out.

Thanks for the update.  Sorry you had to go through so much trouble but I appreciate you sharing your experience.  I've been going back and forth for some time as to whether or not I want to try to get into working tasks.  I may give it a shot one of these times but I have been hearing of  others who have had problems with them.  I see tasks available on many sites.  Thankfully FC has many ways to earn.

The task are just frustrating to me either way.  I'm so sick of running into problems like these and the task that let you get so far before it asks a question that's impossible to answer.  I'm going to keep trying though, maybe I'll get the hang of it. I'd like to figure out which ones are worthwhile.

Crowdflower can't get away with broken HITs on Turk, but they can here.

Crowdflower is a different platform than Turk, I believe and it's the task owners who provide the broken tasks to Crowdflower. There are so many tasks that they really don't know which ones are broken until they get a complaint. Overall, my experience with the tasks has been more positive than negative. Yes, I've had a few broken ones here and there, but you just move on. Crowdflower has been excellent in making up for it too (over-compensating when they don't have to).

I just did task where you identify if a face is present in a photo.  I had actually done good on these.  the new version wants you to identify if it is male/female and inside/outside both have a don't know/cant tell option. 

I got this message about a picture of 2 guys standing on the porch of a wooden cabin.

For the question titled "Is the picture inside or outside?" you answered: "Outside" but the correct answer was: "Inside".

The reason for this is: "This picture looks like it is taken outside."

 Seriously !??!! lol    I told them their answer was wrong and quote them back to them and said they needed to review this.
