Wow - that is wild that some of ya don't have to have a/c, here in the south you can not live without the a/c.
And alot of times it is still not enough, unless you want a most enormous electric bill. So, here in the south it is a/c and fans from the first of May until sometime in late September- early October.

We actually use both. We have a Florida room, but it only has 1 vent in it so we use a fan to blow the a/c from the cooler parts of the house into it. It is our favorite room and we use it as our family room.

I live in a wooded area and my front yard is basically a wooded hill. It covers up the sun by about two in the afternoon. Also with my place being well ventilated, I only have had to run the air conditioning an average of 3-5 days a summer for the past three years. It has been great on the wallet. Just wish I can do that with the heating bill.

i live in assist. living and we have central air. we operate it from our room. its great

I have central air and use it on the hot days of the summer .. but whenever it's gonna be a nice day I open the windows and let the fresh air in.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. We do the best we can to cool our home. Our electric bill has been high but not too high. I can't wait for the cooler weather.
