female violinist (s)

A female violinist was announced on the classical radio station the other day.
I thought that was a rarity.
You can see women in a group of violinists in an orchestra.

It seems like violinists and other stringed instrument players (except for guitarists) are becoming more and more scarce, especially in the USA.  A lot of schools that used to have orchestra classes have abandoned that training.  It is such a wonderful skill that I hope eventually will make a comeback in the school systems.
