shopping for unfortunate kids

there is a drive going on for kids that needs things to go back to school so i am going shopping to get somethings for these kids do they do this where you live i do things like this all year round

Pretty sad.  My parents took an unfortunate kid back to school shopping today.  Mine.  I am totally serious.  If they did not take him I would not have been able to get him anything.  I swear things have to get better soon.  I can't even think about tomorrow let alone next week.  The future is way to scary for me to consider.

good for you it reminds us of doing something like that . I think sleep train has a back to school bin in their store for that will check it out. I remember clothes shopping for 3 kids got expensive kmart was fairly good but then the kids didn't want clothes from kmart well when they were 12 and older anyway.Went to Mervyns loved the clothes but that store is gone.

We are putting several back packs together for needy children. I cant believe what some teachers/schools ask for, though I know why the teachers do (school doesnt give them supplies!). I looked at a list for first grades and a few things struck me as odd:
6 glue sticks, really 6?
4 notebooks (how much writing do first graders do?)
2 cans of lysol (if there are 20 students bringing 2 cans, that is 40 cans of lysol, how much does one classroom need?)
package of marker board markers (I assume for the teacher to use)
a box of kleenex, 2 rolls of paper towels

I understand what you mean. Just take it one day at a time and do your best to keep your spirits up. Things will get better eventually!

we usually buy some extra stuff and drop it off at my son's school...letting them divvy it out to the kids that need it
