I'm probably fixing to get a new computer too.  Mine is just barely working now and a computer tech told me it has a lot of malware on it.  He said he could fix it for close to $300.  I paid $698 for this Dell and have had it for 3-4 years   Its hard to decide to spend that much on fixing it!!  Need to decide something soon

I have dell desktop too. IT's over 7 years old.  I don't want to put much $ on this old thing, but need to get a new pc, and laptop.

If you have the restore disk, you can fix it yourself for free. If you don't have one, look around on Ebay. It's just a matter of booting from the CD drive and following the prompts. Make sure you backup anything you want to save.

Some computers even have the restore on the hard drive in a partition. It would give you a message on how to reach it when you boot up, so watch for it.

As a final resort, you can get a Linux system online free and install that.
