Just wanna let it out

I'm sending a box to my relatives in the philippines and my dad is going back home.

He keeps telling me to add it with his stuff and i tell him now because that means he's gonna end up giving it to my relatives on his side (they're shisty and don't know how to share. if they want something from what we sent, but that item is meant for someone else -named and tagged and everything - they'll take it)

Anyway, he asked me about it again and i told him i'm not done filling up the box. so he asks what's in it. and i told them, my old clothes cause they're the same size.

so he says, just give it to my side of the family?

you kidding me? his side of the family don't know how to share. i understand that they can never get the same stuff here, but i already decided who its going to and told my mom's side that it's going to them.

plus, my mom's side isn't very fortunate compared to my dad's so there's that issue too.

my mom told me once that she saved up to buy these things to give to her side and my dad just gave it to his side of the family out of nowhere.

Anyway, there you go. i'm free from bottling it up but i can sense him asking me about them again.

P.S. I might complain more about my dad in the near future. =p

   I am helping others too. I am sending some parcels to some of my in-need friends. I have no regrets because I know they need my help to get by.

well, basically my dad just doesn't want me and my mom to send anything to my mom's side of the family.

i guess he thinks that his side of the family is being left out, but he's going back home, meaning his relatives are getting something from us too, but he still thinks i'm leaving his relatives out.

he's not going back home til december. there's still time!

but jeez.. he just frustrates me

You could always make a trip to Goodwill or the Salvation Army thrift store and fill a box for your dad to take with him.

Then send your other box to where you want it to go.

If I were you (I just read your post, and you must be really irked by this) I would send a parcel to your mom's side of the family without your dad knowing.  I understand your position (you said your dad's side are stingy and don't like to share) but maybe he thinks you need to share with them more.  If you intend for your mom's side to have the stuff, send it to them.  I would tell him about it later on.  He may take it wrong, but you need to let him know that it is your stuff and your decision.  Good luck.

I would continue to fill the box with the items you want to send to your family.  Once it is filled, seal it up and ship it on out to whom you want it sent to.  It's your stuff and you owe no explanations to anyone else as to what you did with your belongings.

So you are in the US and are sending stuff to the Phillipines?  You are sending clothes?  Have you by chance checked on shipping?  A few years ago I had a ton of school supplies like boxes of crayons, candy, Bible School books, and all kinds of stuff.  I checked into shipping and it was going to cost me over $200.  I was shipping it to a Missionary that I met thru the church I went to at the time.  Needless to say I ended up not sending it.  I could in no way afford that kind of shipping.

I am confused.  Whose side of the family is in the Phillipines?  Your dad's?  And you should be able to give what ever you want to - to whomever you want to and not be made to feel guilty.
