Food
« on: July 25, 2013, 06:39:50 am »
I...Love...Food. There is no hiding it. all I want to do is eat, drink play and have fun. Everytime i get hungry (which is like every 20-30 minutes) i get some food. I cant control myself and my appetite. Can someone give me advice on how to suppress my appetite????????

Help would much be appreciated.

I think anyone who has the answer about how to stop hunger would be able to make millions or billions. We would all like a solution on how to stop eating and thus loose weight.

For the longest time I said the same thing... Do not give in to eating that often. There is no way you need to eat that often. I started by having more substantial meals instead of snacks. Empty calories (sugar) will not satisfy you and make you eat more.

I get hungry really often too but I've been trying to lose weight so I eat fruit when I want a snack.  That's all I eat for breakfast every day too.  The winter was hard on my weight because good fruit became so scarce but now that summer is here I can eat all the fruit I want! (Especially since the prices have come down from the winter fruit prices)  Good luck to you trying not to snack so much.  I would advise to read some good books too.  Time flys when I read and I don't think about being hungry so much.

I drink lots of water and go to the gym.  Afterward, I usually have something healthy since I worked out.  Also, I'm sure you've heard about having smaller servings and containers of quick veggies in fridge is a good idea.  Good Luck!

What always helps me is getting involved in a project, especially during the evening when my appetite tries to take over.  Video games provide a good distraction, but that could lead to just trading one addiction for another. (lol)

I've noticed that when I stopped eating as much sugar and when I cut aspartame out of my diet, that my cravings went down.

Eat foods that are low fat and good for you such as carrots, celery, greens, green beans, etc.

I think you have a food addiction! The problem is that when you feel stressed, food seems to be the only companion you have control of, and it is a stimulus that many people would go to because it is right there and your mind is working so hard so the brain is sending those signals to your taste buds, it is time to eat. What you need to do is find a specialist or even talk to your Dr. If you don't treat that craving, you will become over weight and perhaps in a serious health condition. I also agree with what others suggested here.  If you eat 3 meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, have a snack before lunch and before dinner. Drink a lot of water. Stay away from soda! Try that and see what happens after a month.

My best suggestion would be to drink lots of water cause sometimes that can make you think you're full and then you won't eat.

The next thing to try is keeping mints around you.  I know that when I have a mint flavor in my mouth, I really don't want to eat other flavors cause they taste terrible together.

The other thing to try is putting a blue light in your refrigerator.  I don't know if it works but they suggest that for people cause the color blue isn't all that appetizing.  There are only a few foods that are blue and when the others turn blue, it's generally from mold.  I've heard that can discourage people from eating just cause and wait till you are really hungry.

If you eat in the same place, consider putting a mirror opposite you.  When you watch yourself eat, your a little more self conscious of what's going on and might be able to curb your appetite more.

A food journal is also a good way to curb eating everything.  Get a small notebook and write down the time and what you're eating, possible calories if you feel like it.  By forcing yourself to write it down, you force your brain to think about it and not just reach for something to eat.

I sorta wish I had your problem.  I think I don't eat enough (or that's just my wishful thinking) so my body is constantly hording calories since it doesn't know when it will be fed next.
