That is great. I would love to do something like that some day.  Maybe when the kids are grown.

Some years ago I volunteered at a hospital in the files section.  While there I contracted the TB virus and had to be checked every month, taking shots and on medication for almost a year.  I was never near patients and I get a virus.  That was enough for me-I got the hell out of there after completing my treatment.

I would love to do that also.  right now I do volunteer at our local Senior Center and teach about 15 senior ladies and two men how to tap dance.  We have so much fun
and they are just great.  They even danced in our dance recital this year.  They were awesome  :)

I think too many people volunteer when they could be working to better their life and help to feed their kids.  But I am all for it when it is for the purpose of experience for your career.  I never have referred to it as volunteering, but I am doing that myself.

I volunteer at a local nursing home.  I wheel the residents to different activities, wheel them outside and around the gardens of the home, read to them, talk with them, or just sit with them if that's what they want.  Sometimes we are the only visitors they get, a lot of them have no family or family who don't visit.  I bring my dog occasionally and to see their eyes light up is a great feeling.

I hope you have a great experience and learn a lot about the field.

Volunteering is incredibly rewarding. I help out with children's literacy myself at the library here.
