Need help finding a video card for my desktop.
« on: July 10, 2013, 05:50:22 am »
I have a Acer Aspire M3450 with a ATI Radeon HD 4250 video card, 300 Watts, AMD FX FX 4100 / 3.6 GHz, 1TbHD, 6gb ram I believe.  I wanna upgrade the dam thing due to the games I play lag a lot and makes my computer heat up like crazy, I know some of you will say buy a GOD DAM NEW PC but yeah don't really have that much $$$ to spend on a new PC. If anyone can recommend a Radeon brand video card that would run on my desktop I would appreciate it.  My  budget is around 120$-150$.I also know you have to have a good power supply to run a good video card but I'm scared to change the dam power supply on my desktop keep thinking I will end up frying my mother board and all the parts inside do to a mistake.

Ty in advance if ya all can help me out with my problem

I'm not a gamer, but have heard the ASUS HD7770-2GD5 Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition is a good one at about your price range. It has two massive fans right on the board to help with your heat problem. Changing the power supply is no big risk, just remember exactly where the connections went and how they plug in. Take a picture before you start or draw a diagram.

Any suggestions on a good power supply brand if I do decide on doing the impossible >< , or a plain simple Radeon Video card that runs on 300 watts ?

The best power supplies come from PC Power & Cooling

When I needed to upgrade my other computers video card, I called Dell because that computer is a Dell computer. You could call ACER and see what they would suggest since its one of there computers they would know. Also you could call Tiger Direct they have a great staff and can advise you what to buy they are fast on their shipping, I've used them before. http://www.tigerdirect.com/indexus.asp  I also had to replace the power supply in that computer because it started to lag again on World of Warcraft. It was fine for over a year with the new video card that it started to lag, my first time changing the power supply it wasn't that hard, I watched a bunch of videos on line. I took their advice on what to buy, I bought a 450 supply unit up from a 300 that helped a lot, fixed the problem.
