I think the woman got what she deserved, its not just about saying the word 20 years ago (which I doubt she hasn't said it since) its about creating or allowing a racist/sexist hostile environment for her workers.

Though I think its kind of weird that other public people who made worse comments only got suspended. I guess they view Paula Dean as expendable.

I never cared much for Paula Dean and her personality from the very beginning when she made her first appearance.

Some people are treated much more harshly by the media than others.  If someone else had said what she said it would have been ignored.  It all depends on who makes the remarks.

I was watching news today about how politicians who cheated on their wives and build a bad reputation getting a 2nd chance running for whatever they are running for and Paula Dean got fired for a word thàt she said 30+ yrs when being attacked by a robber? This world is crazy!

I gave up the thinking that "life's fair" years ago.

Anyhow...

Her behavior is not just that of 30 years ago, but of recent because she was sued by a former employer. Old habits die hard. If she wants to be a public figure she needs to act accordingly.
