it is true. on November 12, 2009, Kosciusko County Sheriffs Deputy Jeff Shaw was on call in his Interceptor Crown Victoria, and a truck pulled out in front of him.
the driver was on his cellphone. after Shaw got killed in the line of duty, there has been a law passed that if you are caught on your cell phone while driving, you can be punished. the law is very strict here in Warsaw, because the police remember their fallen friend.

It is unfortunate that the officer died in the line of duty, but texting and driving can be fatal.  I remember a young lady in Mississippi died the same way.  I can see texting if you are the passenger, but when you are driving, you are putting people's lives in danger.  If you want to text that bad, pull over on the side of the road and do it so you do not endanger anyone. :o ??? :o

People who text and drive are just putting theirs and everyone elses lives in danger.  I may pick up my phone when I'm stopped at a light and type out a message, but I drop the phone the minute I see the light change.  Or, if I need to get the message out, I will pull over and type it then get back on the road.  I once looked at my GPS to see where I was going and started drifting in my lane.  I was in a small car luckily so I didn't leave my lane and I was the only one on the road, but I was getting pretty close to leaving my lane when I looked up, but that was close enough for me, I never want to be that panicked again.
