cameras in cable boxes
« on: June 18, 2013, 06:59:33 pm »
From a Washington Times article that I read on Monday, June 17, 2013, “Cable companies will be able to peer directly into TV watcher’s homes and monitor viewing habits and reactions to product advertisements."
“The technology includes cameras and microphones that are installed on DVRs or cable boxes and analyzes viewers’ responses, behaviors and statements to various ads–– and then provides advertisements that are targeted to the particular household."
“Specifically, the technology can monitor sleeping, eating, exercising, reading and more.”
A bill is being introduced in the congress by Rep. Michael Capuano (D) from Massachusetts, called the “We are watching you act”, which would prohibit the technology on boxes and collection of information absent consumer permission.
I hope that everyone who is against this contacts their congressperson and demands that they support this bill.

What has happened to the privacy that you are suppose to have in your own home?
Have a wonderful day!

That reminds me of the Xbox One controversy. The new Xbox Kinect will have a camera that is on 24/7, also requiring you to check in online at least once every 24 hours or you won't be able to play games. I don't really have a problem with that because it'd be in the living room but cable boxes are everywhere so that is definitely a problem.

Big brother is watching you.  Furthermore, he wants to watch you/listen to you NO MATTER WHAT YOU'RE DOING.  It's called CONTROL THE POPULATION.  Why do you think they want to take away our guns?  It's MUCH EASIER to CONTROL YOU without YOUR WEAPONS!  I am against ANY CONTROL BY MY GOVERNMENT and no longer TRUST them to DO THE RIGHT THING.  Government has grown BIG, FAT, and OUT OF CONTROL.  And THIS particular government needs to go ASAP.  Wake up, people!  All the freebies and alleged "safety" in the world isn't worth your FREEDOM.  Grow up, get out, and take care of YOURSELF.  Stop relying on the government to DO FOR you.  Most of all, BEFORE YOU VOTE, look into WHO you're VOTING FOR or you wind up what we're STUCK with NOW.

Leadership? Leading the US to where? Never thought in my wildest imaginations I would see what this nation has turned into or the willingness of the population to cede its GOD GIVEN liberties.  :(

OMG, you have to be kidding me.  This is something that I do not want to know or even believe that this will happen.  That is really and seriously invading my privacy with my friends and family; personal and business situations. :BangHead: :angry7:

I can't say it any better than BlackSheepNY.  Wake up people - our government is totally out of control.
