So when you last saw them, was there a problem?  Maybe this will be a chance to resolve it.

I am really good at this, don't freak out. Clean the house go to the supermarket buy some chips and dip and chips. Buy one of those combination cheese platters and a cold-cut platter make sure the platter has roast beef on it. (looks expensive). On your combination cheese platter decorate it with two sizes of olives make clusters of olives with the pimentos (it looks more colorful) in different places and put a cluster (no less than three, no more than five) in the middle. Take a clear glass bowl put your dip in it put a few olives on top and a couple pieces of fresh parsley to make it look fancy. Take out a platter put the bowl of dip in the middle and surround it with cheese crackers and the fancy crackers that you look at but don't buy on your regular visits to the supermarket. Buy some ice and some soda a little wine go to Boston chicken and get a couple chickens and some mash potatoes get the gravy on the side put it in your gravy boat and steam a few bunches of broccoli add butter and 1/8 teaspoon of salt serve in a nice dish. Decorate around the chicken with parsley and slice an orange put a few slices on the side of each chicken it will look fancy. Don't forget the good glasses and a nice tablecloth. Pick up a small apple pie and some ice cream at the supermarket this should come to under $75 dollars and they will think you worked really hard on it and be quite flattered. Have a great time.

I usually don't like to have company over even when I talk to them all the time lol....just stay calm and know that they are just as nervous as you are!

There is no reason to freak out. Just chill out and enjoy.

I have five points to share with you...1.Don't worry it will be over sooner than it began.  2. You guys have a common thread.  3. Remember they are your brothers and sisters so enjoy them.  4. It may turn out to be a pleasant event so stop thinking about all of the negative and focus on the positive.  5.  This may not happen again.  Tomorrow may hold a different present.  You probably won't see the same people next year. Make the best of it!!!    HAPPY NEW YEAR....

I don't know your reasons for freaking out, but I always do before relatives come over because there is so much I put on myself (& family) to do before they come; like cleaning, cooking and little household repairs that we've neglected. After they arrive and we've all had such a great time I realize that no one even cared or noticed what we did or didn't do. I always tell myself I won't stress out the next time, but....I guess I am a work in progress....lol

I invite people over a couple of times a month, this way I get to the little jobs that you normally just push off until tomorrow.  My family always laughs, if things are looking a little neglected we say it's time for a little get together.   I actually love having people over, especially family.  They are coming to see you, not the food or the house, so relax and enjoy.

i STOPPED talking to my alcholic mother becuase she was dragging me down into a sucidal depression.Except to most she is seen as a pillar of the community. So I lost a of friends. She stole my from me so I became homeless.I moved 5 hours away for over a year and I just moved back into town.My brother and mom are close so we havent talked much except on facebook. So I invited him over for new years party.I havent seen him in years and I am nervous that all that crap will be rehashed and I am no mood to deal
