You can post anywhere. Any place you have interaction with others is perfect. The reason is that referrals come from places you do not expect sometimes. So if you find any platform where you can put the banners, just go ahead and put them there.

I would think if you are posting the link once, it's fine. Repeatedly posting would be considered spamming (and annoying to all your friends who may just end up hiding your posts)

Banners won't work on Facebook but, you can post your personal link on Facebook.
