It shouldn't be done to mock other posters,however.

And it shouldn't be lied about but, you xtians are and have done so.  It is permitted to change a thread title as the content of replies changes in context.

Believe me, we are sufficiently tired of this "issue" -- there is no favoritism; both sides are equally annoying.

We step in when the rules are violated egregiously, and moderation decisions (including bans) are generally tempered with the context of the thread and the individuals involved.

As I've mentioned before, we subscribe to a 'less is more' moderation philosophy and (perhaps naively) hope that community members will behave as such.

Complaints about a particular member, who is not breaking any rules, will continue to be referred to the 'ignore' button - no matter which side of the "issue" you fall on.

In a shocking twist, this thread has spiraled way off-topic and is therefore being locked.

P.S. To get back on topic -- I wanted to explain a bit about why we don't enforce rules about quotes & reply titles.  First, any such rules would be hard to enforce automatically, thus requiring an impossible moderation effort (screening every single post).  Second, as is logical: you only get to control your own "posts".  That means you can adjust quotes to fit the context of your reply, and note a change in the thread's conversation by changing your reply's topic.  Those things are permitted by the forum software and don't seem (to me) to be overly confusing or misleading.  Each post is attributed to its author and clearly marked in its own alternating background color.
