why
« on: October 20, 2012, 02:45:41 am »
Why do kids maybe I should  say teenagers think they have the right to cuss and yell at adults anytime they want to?  I drive a school bus and I have a few on there that think that they can do that and get away with it and so far by golly they have. As  a driver all I can do is write them up and turn them in, it is up to the school to do something about it. And that is like pulling teeth. Slow and painful .
Thank you for letting me vent.

It seems like a thousand years ago but when I rode the school bus all the bus driver had to do was tell our parents and we would straighten up. I know times have changed so... and the kids try to handle the parents now-a-days. Most parents don't know how their children act on the school bus and the kids think they can get away with it. Have the parents been involved or even told about their kids acting up and cussing on the bus.

In today's world kids need a real shocker! Most issues don't just start on the bus they also start at home for these kids. Just be careful!

The mother does not seem to care. The father on the other hand we will have to wait and see. He just found out about it, so maybe he will do something about it.

This problem begins at home, with how the parents are teaching them.  My father made it very clear to us that cussing was not allowed and his forceful yell made us scared to do it.  To this day I'm not very fond of cussing.  Unfortunately, if no one disciplines them at home, then trying to get a teacher or bus driver to do it is hopeless.

I agree; it all begins at home!  But why should others have to put up with the junk that should be controlled at home is beyond me! :dontknow:

it is really said that teenagers and younger childern have no respect for their parents or anyone in authority anymore.
when i was younger and we disrespected an adult we were punished somehow either a smack in the mouth or mouth washed
out with soap i believe that parents need to teach this in the home, also if you want respect you must give respect  :

This is the very reason I will not allow my son to ride the school bus!! I will drive him to and from school each day and will structure him in having self-discipline and respect for school teachers and other children. I must admit I can become a potty mouth when I get angry and I have to improve on that!!  :-[ I agree that children are reflections of their parents. If we teach them good standards and rules, they will abide by them. My son is only 4 years old now and I have a lot to learn, I know. I will take each day at a time and hope that my son and future children will behave like I did when I was growing up. I was the sweet little shy girl that never got into trouble! I guess that was a good thing most of the time. I would definitely not be shy though if I could be a child again...lol.  ;)

That's funny! I just read in my local newspaper, not even living in NJ, that a parent and grandparent went after some bully's in school that were bullying their daughter/grandaughter and were charged with Terrositic acts against the teenagers 14-15 year old boys in a town in NJ. They had reported it to the school on many occasions and nothing was done, so the mother and grandmother did!! Laws have shifted 360 degrees around that now kids have the upper hand these days. People have to get involved in their schools and demand what is right. I don't say that people should take the law into their own hands but, it is getting to be a problem when parent's are ignored!! I have had a similiar situation when my Kids were in school in the Mid 1990's when My daughter was cornered in the girls bathroom by three girls that Threatened her. The vice principal told me that my daughter needs to see a therapist because it never happened. I almost got arrested after I layed into him. Kids are not stupid!! they see what happens and they take advantage of it. The parents and the people in the county are the taxpayers that pay for the schools and teachers salaries, if the community starts getting involved, they have to listen!!

It's sad my children are in elementary school and they ride the bus and they are always talking about the kids cussing on the bus and acting like they are grown ups. I know that most of those kids parents don't really care. We have to keep in mind this is a new day and  time and think about all those teenage parents through the years these are their children. Most of these kids parents are still teenagers or very young adults themselves who don't teach their children because they still need to be taught themselves.

Try to remember to be patient with teenagers. They're going through a lot, expectations of them changing rapidly, sometimes they are treated as adults, sometimes as children. Then there's the crazed hormones. It may be frustrating, but remember what it was like for you when you were a teenager.
