Apple vs Samsung....

So as you all know, Samsung will pay Apple $1 B for patent violation.  The judge pretty much said that "Apple innovates and everybody else just copy".  Do you guys agree with the decisions?  We all know that Japanese and the Germans makes Great Cars, Swiss makes great Watches - Can we say now that Americans makes Great Smartphones?

What's your take on this issue?

My fiance owns a Samsung tablet and I certainly wouldn't say it's a replica of the iPad. In fact, it has a lot of features that the iPads available at that time did NOT have, so how could Samsung be copying them?

I think Samsung just became too fierce of a competitor (similar product at a much lower price!) and Apple felt the need to take them out.
