She already has 4 kids and is now pregnant again. Nothing I say gets through to her. It is actually starting to get embarassing.

I guess it would depend on the situation.  Are these "accidents" or is she married? AND can she/they support their family?  If she is happily married and starting her family, I don't see why there should be a number put on how many kids a couple should have, or being embarrassment by her large family.  My friend's brother and sister-in-law have 9 kids.  However, if she is young, on welfare, cannot support her family and all have been "unplanned", then I can see where you are coming from.

I only have two children, but my mother was NOT HAPPY about either of my pregnancies.  Both of them were 100% planned.  I was married for three years before having my first child, so it wasn't out of wedlock.  I did everything right, and in the proper order, and she didn't seem to be in favor of either of them.  I really hurt my feelings.  I really wanted a family.  It ended up working out and all were healthy, and I'm sure she wouldn't have it any other way now.

To expand on "shortnlovabl3" post.  If she is over 18 and married, there is really not much you can do.  She is an adult. And it's really not your place to tell her how many times she can reproduce.  I have a relative who has done that with his son.  His grandchildren will receive less inheritance because, as he puts it, "their Dad didn't know when to stop having kids".

I'm guessing from your screen name that you're in your mid-40's, so you must have had her young and she must have had her kids young as well. If she's married and not on welfare, then I doubt you'd be embarrassed. But 5 kids for a young mom is kind of crazy. 5 kids is kind of crazy period! I hope she'll be done after this one. My husband came from a family of 6, and it was too much for his parents to handle. They weren't able to provide well, and the older 3 kids basically had a totally different life than the younger 3 kids just because once it got to that point the parents were so stressed and unhappy. The siblings all really love each other and have good relationships, but no one has good relationships with the parents and they've recently split up from each other even.

Her divorce was final from the father of 3 kids. They split up she hooked up with another guy. She got pregnant and left him. yet another boyfriend. I dont keep constant ties on her but I do cherish and will protect my grandkids.
