Another person trying to make this into a gun issue?  You say that isn't what it is about but yet read your post again, it is exactly what you are saying? 

The saying is so true....Guns DONT kill people, people kill people....This young man chose to go into that theater and kill, with or without the assault gun he would have accomplished what he set out to do because that assault weapon was not the only gun he had with him.

I think the real topic should be about sympathy for these families involved in this tragedy, not about the type of gun that was used to commit the crime.
