I remember as a child growing up with Garfield Goose, Captain Kangaroo, Bozo.
There were family shows like Donna  Reed, Father Knows Best, Make Room for Daddy, *bleep* Van Dyke, PattyDuke, MyThree Sons.
For the longest time, in my mind, I thought that Mr Green Jeans was the one with the notes clipped to his suit; he would take one down and tell the audience what was next on the show. It was not Mr Green Jeans, though. It was Ray Rayner, who also played Oliver old Oliver on Bozo's show.
