I never thought about this before.
Grits are made from corn.
I like to know what I am eating.
Corn stays in silos too long and is known to be a source of fungus.
Verify this with Doug Kaufman's "know the cause".

The only corn that is store in silos if for animal consumption only. Anything that is canned, dried, frozen goes directly to the manufactors.

hmm most of the corn products I know about are cooked rather extensively like corn flakes, corn chips and even corn tortillas.  Got to agree we do use a lot of corn products since we like to use corn oil when cooking and corn syrup.  But as a previous poster published the only corn that goes into storage is for animal and manfacturing of things like ethanol.  And if I am remebering correctly a lot of corn syrup goes into the making of soft drinks like coke, dr. pepper, 7 up, etc.
