Super-Earth
« on: May 09, 2012, 04:57:22 am »
Light from an alien "super-Earth" twice the size of our own Earth has been detected by a NASA space telescope for the first time in what astronomers are calling a historic achievement.

NASA's infrared Spitzer Space Telescope spotted light from the alien planet 55 Cancri e, which orbits a star 41 light-years from Earth. A day on the extrasolar planet lasts just 18 hours.

The planet 55 Cancri e was first discovered in 2004 and is not a habitable world. Instead, it is known as a super-Earth because of its size: The world is about twice the width of Earth and is super-dense, with about eight times the mass of Earth.

WoW! lets all move to Super Earth ! Sounds very interesting. Imagine what else could be out there, Only God knows and God opens our eyes to see his creations. Who is to know.... maybe some aliens out there worship our God too.  :angel11:

Okay of course this happens after the government supported NASA is shut down to the private sector. I wonder how this will affect anything.. Maybe a renewwed space race if we get more information.

You could gather up some other xtian fundamentalists and fund such a permenent move with those untaxed 'donations & tithes'.

Who is to know.... maybe some aliens out there worship our God too.  :angel11:

Why would an alien species which never heard of a localized religious superstition 41 lightyears away do so?
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Better get some good exoskeletons before jaunting off to the place.  The g will be a bit intense.

The planet's gravitational field effect cannot be alleviated significantly by any technology currently available.  That's largely a moot point since neither is the technology to travel 41 lightyears yet available.  Someday ...

I've always been fascinated by the idea of other habitable planets in other systems, but I don't think I will see much changes happening in my life time. As to traveling the distance of 41 light years hopefully this will be done by a possible shortcut like a wormhole as actual travel with the distance would be impractical.
