Don’t you really love Sears?
« on: April 30, 2012, 09:28:32 am »
You can always tell a sears mechanic from the second they open their mouth.  I’m guessing in order to become one you are swore to take the same vow: never tell the customer the reason the appliance broke down is because it just broke or was defaulty.  I had my water heater break (not insured by Sears) which had to be replaced so it was sitting outside waiting for the trash collector to come by.  My dishwasher ended up breaking which was under Sears.  So the mechanic comes and sees the water heater outside and the first thing out of his mouth is, “so you got a new water heater?” Then when he checks the dishwasher he says, “The valve broke because your water heater mechanic did not turn on and off the water valves correctly so the force of the water broke the valve.”  (Which to is crap because the water heater mechanic that came not only knew what he was doing but now I get hot water faster than I ever did before.)  Then he checks the garbage disposal and is like, “you had the flood of water because your disposal didn’t work so the water which flows into it had nowhere else to go but on your floor.”  Of course finally after admitting he did not have the part the reason he gave there was the machine was old.  I’m thinkin’ it was old that’s why the valve broke.  A week later he came back and told him the disposal was fixed.  He put in the new valve then said because I have hot, hot water it could cause the valve to break again so to get a filter which goes under the disposal.  That way the valve won’t break again.  Well I’m like no.  I should not have to go out and by stuff to prolong your equipment.  That’s what I have an agreement for.  It breaks Sears has to pay for a new one.

Tell me about it.  I got the washer and dryer insured by them and the first thing the mechanic comes in and says is to check the dryer vent.  Now the last time I had them come I told them the buzzer broke.  What the heck does the dryer vent have to do with a buzzer breaking?  But that’s Sears.  It’s never the appliance itself it’s always something else that causes it to break. :BangHead:

I never liked them, but that goes with everybody not only Sears, when I moved to my brand new-build house, my dishwasher broke within 2 years,  so when I called the insureance people to come fix it, they told me that they had records that during installation some valve or something or other had broken and it was "FIX" to last only a couple of years since by then I the owner would have to worry about it.  So they builder gave us a broken dishwahser to begin with, of courtse a sue them and they bought me a new one, but all the places, mechanics, etc are theives and trained to do that.

No wonder they're close to closing shop.

Love Sears?  I can think of a lot of other stores that I like.  But I love none of the stores becaue all their prices have increased so much that it is staggering even when anything maybe on sale.

I've actually had really great experiences with Sears. But I guess their customer service is different in other places. That's a shame.

It is so sad how bad they have become. My Dad work for them for years and they were great, then in the 90's he says it became all about the money, not the customer, he was glad to retire and get out before it got so bad :-[

I worked for years for sears, If you don't like the way you were treated go straight to the top and make a major complaint. Usually that will get the ball rolling. I used to have to take care of those. Believe me i got my bu## chew palanty but always found a way to get things taken care of. Even if i had to replace the whole unit witha new one. But you just have to go to the top brass.

I learned how to deal with Sears through my mother.  And The guy who said go to the top brass is right.  Don't waste your time with the repair man or even the manager at the store.  Send a letter to the corporate office or call them and watch how fast the manager will be out making sure whatever is wrong is fixed.
