Has anyone gone through the process of trying to get a child recruited to play their sport at a college.

Has anyone gone through the process of trying to get a child recruited to play their sport at a college.

1997 I was a good HS athlete. I ended up playing football for Indiana university.
Many things are different but a few things never change.

-DO NOT HIRE A RECRUITING "Expert"
These men are con artist and will have no more contacts than your son's football coach.

- Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse ASAP
Your son won't be eligible to compete or be rewarded a scholarship without doing so

- Game film.
This is actually easier now with youtube. When I was being recruited I had to send VHS tapes to schools. Now a good youtube clip of his highlights can be e-mailed to recruiters.

-GRADES, GRADES, GRADES!
Make sure his grades and test scores can meet eligibility requirements

I hope this is a fun process. Build a relationship with his HS coaches

It is funny you ask that question, my wife and I are are going through that very thing with one of our children. He is only 13, but is going into the 8th grade and from all of our research that is when the Scouts start recruiting. It is a very detailed and complicated process.
