If all tobacco user,of all tobacco products refrained from buying any and all tobacco products on the same day, say national smoke out day  The loss of tax revenue would be so great, that it could set into motion a national deficeit, so great that this country could never recover.  So,tell us, what do you think?

They really hit the smokers hard on taxes, supports a lot of programs, Why don't they tax liquor, and soda pop the same way. it is all bad for you. But then so is candy, sugar, and a lot of other things. All they want is all of our money.

Yes I agree, they want to limit us smokers and having us pay all these high taxes.  I think we should have the right to smoke any where we want since it is legal to smoke.

You don't have the right to poison non-smokers who don't want to breathe in second hand smoke, which is twice as bad for you. So no, you don't have the right to smoke anywhere you want. The high taxes is another issue, but as far as limiting where you smoke, that is to protect other people.

Plenty of people make bad choices regarding their health and unfortunately, many don't consider the impact on others. We are all free to make choices, good and bad, so if the choice is bad for your health and the country can somehow benefit from this then why not? The idea behind higher taxes for poor choices is likely to get people to make better choices. As a tax payer and non-smoker, I don't want to pay for the health care of someone who doesn't take care of their body. So deal with the taxes or choose to be healthier.

I don't believe the government has any business being in the social engineering business.  I just want the government out of my life.

You've managed to be ignorant and inaccurate here. You have zero concept of how sales work. Unless you all quit smoking for good, not buying for one day would have ZERO impact. Do you think any large company is dependant on day to day sales? If no one bought for a day but continued to smoke, they eventually have to buy again. The "lost" revenue would be recovered within the week. So basically, either pay up or put the cancer stick down.

Is the issue taxes, the size of government, or second hand smoke.  If it's taxes, I say tax cigarettes the same as any other thing sold.  If it's the size of government, I say "medium", i.e. don't overtax smokers, but still protect tobacco company abuse.  If the issue is second hand smoke, I say place just enough rules to keep nonsmokers safe while still protecting individuals' rights, i.e. smokers' rights to smoke.
