Are WE losing the WAR on DRUGS?

The new Cocaine is Oxycodone. Scary stuff. More people die from an overdose of oxycodone than any of the illegal substances. Also many folks addicted to benzos like Xanax, Valium..etc.

I know this is a tired comparison, but I'm gonna make it anyway: it seems to me that we aren't doing any better at winning the war on drugs than we did the war on prohibition back in the '30s.  And that's my only comment.  For now.

my family was living in a Chicago south side suburb.
The police frequently came to check things at a house across from my sister and brother in law's.
They weren't bothered by the mix in the neighborhood and did well to keep peace there....until a business opportunity came for my broth in law in "the nick of time".
They moved to Arkansas and my parents and I moved to Florida.

here in indiana if a person is convicted of drug or weapons charges they are evicted from the apartments.  its not fair for the good tenents to be scared in their own homes.

The war on drugs was never a battle to begin with we were lost from the very beginning. Especially with it being so easy for someone to get the drugs to begin with its like finding a needle in a haystack.

It is hard to fight against something that so many people want.
This is such a huge problem here in the US. It is so easy to buy, sell and use drugs.
The users are driven by addiction and the sellers are driven by greed.
I do not see any answer to end it.

The "WAR on Drugs" is actually nothing more than a racist war on poverty. Legalize drugs already!  Terrorism takes a hit, the jails stay empty.  Do you think even ONE PERCENT of drug addict would ever, EVER quit because it's illegal.  NO! The war on drugs is stupid at best, evil at worst.

I think you're missing the big picture. No one important has thought a war on drugs could be won. More money spent on enforcement = more profits in the black market by a "select" few groups that some agencies could work with = healthier-looking economy to the average Joe.

We never really had a chance to win the war on drugs because our goverment never treated it like a serious problem. But drug addiction is a serious problem in our society. Drugs is big business and money. Big money always attract our corrupt lawmakers in congress.
