My daughter in law has one. When she has it in and talks to people, she sounds ridiculous, trying to form her words over it.

I've had my tongue pierced for 6 years now (as well as several other piercings) and I don't see anything wrong with it. I use a plastic post and ball because I didn't want to damage my teeth and once a week I remove and clean all of my piercings thoroughly (except for my micro dermal implants), so there is no hygiene issues with my tongue ring either. It all just comes down to a matter of opinion. I don't feel that because I have piercings I should be seen as disgusting just like you shouldn't be seen as narrow minded and dull for not having them.

Tongue piercings are just like any other piercing. You have to take care of them, and it takes a while to get used to them. If you get a great big one, and arent careful with it, sure you could crack your teeth. The same thing applies to people if you give them a hammer, in so much as not careful = break teeth. After enough time, you will eventually get used to it, and be able to speak just fine. I don't recommend it because when you first get them eating is the most difficult part, as you have to take time to get used to chewing without biting the piercing. But, to each his own, i say.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Are you getting the second one vertical or horizontal?

I grind my teeth at night, so I do not think I should even consider the idea.

As far as other people, to each his own.

It does bother me to see people who are constantly playing with it with their tongue, especially when they are cahiers, waiters, etc.

My tongue is pierced. When i had it done it was swollen and kinda hurt.but after the swelling went down i couldnt tell it was even there. I Brush my teeth and use mouthwash everyday. I also take it out and clean it.

I know lots of people with or who had tounge rings and never had problems with it. The thing that sucks is if you take it out even for just a few hours it will close unlike other piercings.

Ahhh. I'm thinking of getting a horizontal one. I know some people with it and they say its not a big deal.

I'm not a fan of tongue piercing or any other places people like getting them these days besides your ears and that's it.  If people think it looks attractive, it doesn't in my opinion!

:thumbsup:Tongue piercing can crack or damage your teeth.  If the tongue piercing post is not cleaned daily the bacteria plaque formed on it will cause you to have bad breath.
What's your point????????? I have several piercings. Its a personal choice and yes, It does take some maintainance to keep it clean, But I don't mind, Because I have something besides a pen top to chew on if I get nervous. Never cracked a tooth with it, and I love it! Too many people get on line and look at the bad things that piercings do on google images or something, and end up taking a stance on it? That's just silly, eventhough its fact~just silly.
Some people think getting the piercings at all is silly. Just saying ... That aside I say if it is what you want to do then do it. My daughter has piercings and tattoos and I think they look great on her. :) She is however and adult that is free to make her own decisions. I would never have allowed it when she was a teen.
